Come on out to celebrate the life that Christ has given us through the cross.
The term "Good" as applied to Good Friday is an Old English expression meaning "holy." It's often called Holy Friday. But in another sense, Good Friday is always tied to Easter Sunday, which is a joyful celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus replied, “You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Then the high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said, “Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy. What is your verdict?”
“Guilty!” they shouted. “He deserves to die!”
Then they began to spit in Jesus’ face and beat him with their fists. And some slapped him, jeering, “Prophesy to us, you Messiah! Who hit you that time?”
These verses from Mat. 26:64-68 indicate a little bit of what our Messiah had to go through. But, in order to make all things new, Jesus died so all could be good with the Father. We celebrate the fact that our Lord is in heaven interceding for us all, and He is soon returning!
That's why we celebrate Good Friday!
